If you’re wondering what your scans might turn out like, I’ve popped up a quick page to show the quality of images/PDFs I can produce with my various specialized scanners. All are my own (legitimately vintage) documents & images.
I use two types of scanners!
- For paper documents, I use my Fujitsu ix1500 ScanSnap (auto feed document scanner) which can save as image or PDF. (It can handle multi-page up to FIFTY pages, full-colour, & double-side.)
- For photos, slides, and things requiring high-quality (up to 6400 ppi) scans, I use my Epson Perfection v550 Photo flatbed scanner.
- Small bits of paper, such as receipts and business cards, can be done on either scanner.
- Examples below!
1) Fujitsu ix1500 ScanSnap Scanner (scan example)
EXAMPLE: A document scan of double-sided paper, one single autofeed pass-through, automagically saved as a two page PDF. (No corrections have been made to this raw scan.)
2) Epson Perfection v550 Photo flatbed scanner (scan examples — slide, photo)
Colour Photograph example scan
Since I’m scanning a lot of old photos for folks, as a for-example I’m offering up myself in my 1985 or 1986 school photo. Original photo (a snapshot of it shown in hand, left) is tiny at 1.5 X 2 inches.
SCANS: (No corrections have been made to the raw scans.)
- Centre scan had to be downsampled somewhat due to size. (4.3 MB. Click if you dare.)
- Slightly creepy face detail (R) is scanned at maximum 6400 ppi (1.9 MB).

Colour Slide example scan
In 1991, there was a photo shoot for my friend, and I helped with the styling. Hey, it was 1991, and Grunge was really in.
Colour slide scanned at 1600 ppi. Saved as a JPG (right). Click the scan to see the full size image. (2 MB) (No corrections have been made to the raw scan.)
