Elaine Miller: a quick summary.

I respect a deadline and a budget. I can work in-person or remotely. I’m honest about my skill set and limitations. I’ve been bilingual in Human and Computer since 1997.
I’m Vancouver-based: I live, love & work in the unceded, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Techdonkey: 2004 to present
I’ve been the Techdonkey since 2004, (and for about five years before that as DykeTech). The years have been filled with all sorts of nerd-for-hire adventures! I’ve built and maintained websites, online communities & mailing lists. I’ve run a small webhosting offshoot of Techdonkey.com (still deciding whether we’re going there again). I’ve written vast quantities of website copy. I’ve tinkered with every possible type of computer except mainframes. I’ve helped folks buy and sell computers, taught elderly parents how to manage their smartphones, and had a wonderful time with all the varied personal and technological connections I’ve made.

Starting 2013ish, I hung up Techdonkey for a brief hiatus of 11 years (!) while I was terribly busy running Vancouver’s favourite Leather store 24/7. There just wasn’t time for two active businesses, so I refused most IT-related requests that were not directly connected to my brick-and-mortar shop or my online store.
As of November 2024, I sold the busy leather shop in search of a quieter life, and now I’m back to peacefully solve your tech problems, improve your experience with your gadgets, and preserve your data and documents.
